What is the difference between Student Account and Admin Account?

In Typesy for Schools and Homeschool, there are two types of accounts: admin and student. An admin account is for teachers, instructors, or homeschool parents/carers to set up students, assign curriculums, and monitor progress. A student account is for the students to actually complete the assigned curriculums.

While it’s possible to access the student features from your admin account, you should NEVER let your students use Typesy with your admin account. If you do this, Typesy won’t work as intended. The only reason we allow admins to access the student features is so they can get an idea of how the student interface works.

For your students, please set up additional separate accounts and add them to your class. Then get your students to log in with their own accounts. For more details on how to do this, see this article.

Admin Account

The admin account includes an admin interface where a person in charge, such as a parent or teacher, can manage all the user/student accounts. The “Admin” tab will appear beside Typesy status points/level.

Once you’ve clicked it, you will be redirected to the Admin interface where you can add students, create class, manage the class, and so much more.

Student Account

The student account does not include any admin feature. Once student log in to their account, they will be shown the available curriculum set by the admin account (parents/teachers).
